EXCLUSIVE: Student Visa Applicants with ‘Hostile Attitudes’ Will Be Told They Can’t Come to the U.S.
June 18, 2025President Donald Trump has signed a proclamation instituting a full and partial travel ban for individuals from certain countries into the US. A total of 19 countries are part of this ban, which takes effect at 12:01 AM Monday. The move is aimed “to protect the United States from foreign terrorists and other national security and public safety threats,” the official White House Fact Sheet reads.
The list stems from a January 20 executive order issued by President Trump, directing the Departments of State and Homeland Security, along with the Director of National Intelligence, to assess “hostile attitudes” toward the US and evaluate whether entry from certain countries poses a national security threat.
Trump added that the move was sparked by individuals from these countries overstaying their visas and “burdens on immigration and law enforcement components of the United States, and often exacerbates other risks related to national security and public safety.”
Moreover, the official statement stressed that the restriction will apply to both “immigrants and nonimmigrants.”
Fully Restricted Countries:
- Afghanistan
- Myanmar (Burma)
- Chad
- Republic of the Congo
- Equatorial Guinea
- Eritrea
- Haiti
- Iran
- Libya
- Somalia
- Sudan
- Yemen
Partially Restricted Countries:
During his first term, President Trump imposed a travel ban on seven majority-Muslim countries, a policy that underwent multiple revisions before being upheld by the Supreme Court in 2018. His successor, President Joe Biden, repealed the ban in 2021, calling it “a stain on our national conscience.”
This is breaking news and will be updated with more details.
