ROCHESTER, N.Y. — RIT announced a new partnership with the Army to lead STEM education programs across the country.
The U.S. Department of the Army Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics is having RIT lead the Army STEM Education Consortium. RIT will spearhead efforts to run STEM education and workforce development programs from elementary schools through postdoctoral programs.
The goal is to prepare the next generation of America’s workforce for national security careers.
“We’re teaching a mindset, a STEM mindset, a way of thinking, a way of being in the world that’s always about growth and resilience and moving forward,” said Donna Burnette, executive director of RIT’s K-12 University Center and ASEC chair and principal investigator.
To make the program happen, RIT is partnering with Tennessee Technological University and organizations like the National Science Teaching Association.
